The MARTA Museum
Saturday I checked out the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth for the MARTA construction and history talk. If you haven’t been there, it’s an incredibly awesome museum for foamers. I’ve gone to a few rail museums now, and this one is rather impressive. It has a great collection, some really cool things, including several transit and MARTA pieces. Some of these pieces were literally brought back from the dead, or the junk heap, to make it in the collection. I intend to write about those journeys later. But for now, photos!
T driving an old CCT bus.
Retro MARTA! This is a Flxible? Darn good thing I’m cute, because I’m not that good at remembering bus models.
So retro, it’s pre-MARTA.
That perfectly placed glare says that the bus was built in 1941.
Check out that old fare box!
The trackless trolley!
And some train pictures, since it is a train museum.
If you haven’t been to the museum, I would encourage it. Train museums are actually a lot of fun. There’s still a lot more that I haven’t seen there, so I’ll be headed up again soon, and I’m excited about their ghost tours for Halloween!
