Dear Dallas,

July 6, 2010

I have mixed feelings about your transit. We’ll discuss the positives a little later, but in this post, we’re going to discuss the downside to getting around Dallas.

Transit in Dallas seems to be an afterthought. It’s all lovely and new and shiny, which means they just recently started building it. For a city of 6.4 million, that’s the 4th largest metro area in America, I would expect better. A more robust, established transit system. However, it only moves a little more than 150,000 a day (as compared to MARTA’s 500,000, in the 9th largest metro area). Their fare system is honor based and it’s not even ADA compliant.

There are some highlights, don’t get me wrong. But my impression is that trucks like this dude have been ruling the roads for too long and Dallas just got with the plan.
