You Must Be This Tall to Ride this Bus

September 24, 2009

Has anyone noticed the new Breeze card signs on the bus? Along with the family of fare cards that admonishes no sharing, children under 4-foot-6 ride free. I think it used to be kids under age 6, as I remember that on the bus, I was 6 years old until 4th grade was nearly over.

Now, how will the height measurements be made? I see lots of tiny women on the bus, most of whom are surely near the free ride height. What about them? And at train stations? Sure, I suppose this is solved by most parents carrying their children or ushering them through, but at that height, that’s a kid too big to carry.

UPDATE: Apparently, there are ruler decals on all the breeze gates. How weird.
